About Lianna Mazing

Biography

Lianna Mazing is a young and upcoming singer-songwriter, rapper, dancer, and model from South Seattle, Washington. A self taught singer who started when she was only 4 years old, Lianna has grown to develop an impressive, ever growing range and utilizes her ability to float between notes often.

“I always knew I was meant to be a singer. When I was a kid, I used to sing ‘We Belong Together’ by Mariah Carey every single day with so much emotion you’d have thought my little heart was broken. That’s when I decided, singing and writing music was the best possible way to express my feelings.”

Lianna has been dancing since she was 8, about 11 years, beginning with ballet before branching out to other styles such as hip-hop, contemporary, and majorette. She has danced on multiple teams in Seattle, including Impact, Kutt’N’Up, and The Baybs, and has danced and modeled in music videos for many local artists as well. Her signature style of dance present in her choreography currently includes a combination of hip hop and contemporary moves that blend seamlessly.

“Ballet was definitely my first love,” she says, "I had to stop because of the way my feet were shaped; the pointe shoes would’ve permanently damaged them. I was so sad at the time, but looking back I see it as a blessing; I don’t know if I would’ve experimented with other styles unless that door closed.”

Currently, she is working on a full length album entitled "LIA” or, “Lost in Affection” which follows her journey through love, relationships, heartbreak, and healing.

Inspiration

Lianna’s highly commanding voice is rich with many layers of dynamics inspired hugely by Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, and Alicia Keys. As a rapper and poet, her flows are varied and unique with empowering underlying messages, inspired lyrically by conscious rap artists J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Clariyah Bo$$, and Joyner Lucas.

“I used to spend weeks dedicated to mastering a new song - to a T - before I went back through and added my own personal style. That’s how I learned to sing the way I do - practice, every single day.”
